Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski, along with other European city leaders, is calling on future members of the European Parliament and the European Commission to increase funding for urban climate measures. In their joint public letter, the mayors emphasize that direct financial support for cities is necessary to accelerate the green transition, improve quality of life, and enhance cities' capacity to cope with climate change.

Starting Monday, June 10, construction work on water and sewer lines will begin on F. R. Kreutzwaldi Street, leading to traffic restrictions. At the same time, two-way traffic for both cars and public transport will be restored on Gonsiori Street, which has been closed since March last year due to the construction of the Old City Harbour tramway. Additionally, from June 7, the southern branch of Ahtri Street will be opened to traffic, and traffic in the harbour area will be fully restored.

The Tallinn Property Department has announced an idea competition for the design of a new building for Nõmme põhikool. The competition is open to all qualified architects and architectural firms. The goal is to create a modern learning environment to replace the existing school building.

Next week, construction will begin on the first phase of the Putukaväil (The Pollinator Highway) project in Tallinn, creating a new pedestrian and cyclist corridor between Ristiku and Sõle streets and establishing a diverse linear park that connects Sõle Street with Kolde puiestee.

The week of European Parliament elections has begun today. Advance and electronic voting will take place from June 3 to June 8, with Election Day on Sunday, June 9.

Starting Monday, June 10, construction will begin on the pedestrian tunnel at the intersection of Paldiski maantee and Tehnika Street. Today, the Kopli Volunteer Rescue Squad begins operations, offering basic rescue capabilities. This includes a 24/7 smoke diving rescue team capable of responding within 60 seconds, equivalent to the response time of professional firefighters.

On Saturday, June 1, the official beach season begins at Tallinn's public beaches. All five beaches are ready to welcome visitors.

Yesterday, the Tallinn Urban Planning Department honored the owners, architects, and construction companies of historical buildings that were excellently restored and refurbished last year. The awards were presented by Deputy Mayor Madle Lippus and the head of the City Planning Department, Martin Karro.
