To ensure environmentally friendly disposal of old Christmas trees, Tallinn has opened 83 collection points where residents can drop off their trees free of charge. Trees can also be taken to waste stations or have them picked up by the local waste management service.

Tallinn has announced a single-stage architecture competition to seek out a new design that would fit the concepts of Koidu tänav as a home street as well as the main street of Uus-Maailm. The competition covers the area between Suur-Ameerika tänav, Koidu tänav and Pärnu maantee.

In July last year, Tallinn announced a public architectural competition seeking concepts for Koidu Street as both a residential street and the main street of the Uus Maailm district. Today at 6 PM, a presentation of the top five architectural proposals for the competition will be held at Tallinna Humanitaargümnaasium (Koidu Street 97), aiming to involve local residents in the discussion before the jury makes its final decision.

Yesterday, the Tallinn Urban Planning Department honored the owners, architects, and construction companies of historical buildings that were excellently restored and refurbished last year. The awards were presented by Deputy Mayor Madle Lippus and the head of the City Planning Department, Martin Karro.
