Tallinn and the Estonian Red Cross sign an agreement to donate 20 buses to Ukraine
The City of Tallinn, AS Tallinna Linnatransport (TLT) and the Estonian Red Cross signed a cooperation agreement to donate 20 diesel buses to the Ukrainian city of Zhõtomyr. The buses will be accompanied by a humanitarian shipment of essential supplies to Ukraine.
The New Year's Eve party on Vabaduse Square will feature well-known Estonian artists and for the first time a light show.
On the last day of the year, 31 December at 22:00, a grand free concert will start in Vabaduse Square. Estonia's best-loved artists Anne Veski, Karl-Erik Taukar Band and 5MIINUST will perform, and at midnight there will be a light show.
Cornerstone laid for Tallinn Sports Hall extension
Today, the cornerstone was officially laid for the extension of the Tallinn Sports Hall, which will be completed next autumn as an important preparation for 2025, when Tallinn will be the European Capital of Sport.
An international architectural review to be commissioned for the preliminary design of Tallinn Hospital
Today, on October 10, the Tallinn Hospital Development Foundation’s council met to discuss the positions presented to the city by the Estonian Association of Architects (EAA) regarding the preliminary design of Tallinn Hospital. As a result of the discussion, the council decided to commission an additional international and independent architectural review. Consequently, the deadline for submitting bids for the Tallinn Hospital design tender has been extended to January 20, 2025.
Tallinn calls for increased EU funding to meet climate goals
On October 21-22, Tallinn's Deputy Mayor Viljar Jaamu participated in the European Mayors’ Summit held in Strasbourg. The summit brought together European city leaders to share their vision with newly elected Members of the European Parliament and discuss the future priorities of the European Union. Buildings lit up in orange draw attention to the issue of violence against women

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, several buildings across Tallinn have been lit in orange, symbolizing collective efforts to create a violence-free future.

At a gala held in Brussels, the president of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), Gian Francesco Lupattelli, and European Commissioner for Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, presented Tallinn with the title of European Capital of Sport 2025.
Chairman of the Tallinn City Council to declare Christmas Peace on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, December 24, at 12:00 noon, the Chairman of the Tallinn City Council, Toomas Kruusimägi, will declare Christmas Peace, traditionally reading the historic Christmas Peace message to the townspeople from the Town Hall window.
Temporary traffic arrangements due to President Rüütel’s funeral
On Saturday, January 11, the late President Arnold Rüütel, who passed away on December 31, will be laid to rest with a state funeral at the Estonia Theatre. Due to the funeral, temporary traffic restrictions and changes will be in effect in Tallinn on January 10 and 11. Police request drivers to follow traffic signs and instructions from officers.
