Financial support from the European Union as well as from the states to cities should be provided as a holictic package in order to make urban environments greener and more sustainable, said Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart at the Annual Dialogue of EU Capital City Mayors with the European Commission.

The construction of the lighting solution in the pedestrian tunnels of the Haabersti traffic junction has been completed. The newly installed lights in the Suurhall and Zoo tunnels replicate the movement of people in the walkway and change colour according to the speed of movement.

Prototron, a facility that supports the implementation of smart ideas, has opened its first call for proposals this year. Last year, Prototron donated a total of 170,000 euros to ideas that would make people’s daily lives better and more comfortable, bringing the total amount of grants under the facility to more than 1 million euros. At yesterday’s meeting, the Tallinn City Council confirmed Tallinn's participation in three TalTech Smart City Centre of Excellence projects and agreed to their bridge financing. On Monday, international procurement for the design of the largest hospital complex in Estonia - Tallinn Hospital - was announced with the deadline of 27 May 2021. The estimated cost of the procurement is 11 million euros.
