The heavy snowfall which has lasted during the entire day has brought almost 80% of street maintenance equipment to the streets.

The Tallinn Environment and Public Works Department warns road users of the snowstorm, which may cause sleet on the roads and difficult road conditions. Residents are warned to avoid entering traffic and driving today if possible.

As the conditions of the heavy snowstorm that started at noon today, the city brought all street maintenance equipment to the streets to quickly remove the effects of the strong winds and snowfall. The winds are expected to abate overnight into Tuesday.

Yesterday’s snowstorm has brought 200 maintenance vehicles to the streets and the process of clearing streets of snow continues throughout the day. The conditions of the streets are currently acceptable considering the weather conditions.

The above-zero temperatures that arrived on Tuesday will persist for a week with both sleet and rain expected. The changeable weather conditions could cause ice to form on buildings, while snow and slush could make it difficult to walk on pavements.

In order to improve the mobility of pedestrians and cyclists, The City of Tallinn plans to build a cycling lane between J.Poska and Reidi streets. The construction project is waiting for comments of all Tallinn residents. In addition to the construction of the new pedestrian lane, new street lighting and greenery is planned to be added to the cycling lane.

This year the City of Tallinn offers free legal advice to residents on ten consultation days, scheduled in each city district. The first consultation day will take place this Friday, 17 March from 9 am to 6 pm at the Nõmme District Government.

The Tallinn City Government approved a detailed plan today for a property located at the corner of Kopli and Vana-Kalamaja streets in Põhja-Tallinn. The architecture competition for the planned kindergarten in the Manufactory quarter, organized by the City of Tallinn, has been won by the architectural firm Creatomus Solutions OÜ with their design "Hiiepuu." The authors of the design are Renee Puusepp, Patric Liik, Jelyzaveta Peresada, Aline Aparecida Cabral de Carvalho, Marija Katrina Dambe, Florian Betat, Juris Dambis, Kiur Lootus, and Eva-Maria Truusalu.
