Tram line 2, running through the Old City Harbour, is the most popular in Tallinn
On December 1 last year, a new tram corridor passing through the Old City Harbour (Vanasadam) was opened, with tram line 2 being rerouted to this track. Data shows that it is now the most popular tram line in Tallinn, with approximately 400,000 rides recorded in January.
Vanasadam tramway construction alters traffic around Tallinn Creative Hub
The construction of the Vanasadam tramway will cause traffic changes in the area around the intersection of Kursi Street and Põhja pst. until mid-September. From Tuesday 6 June, the section of Kursi Street in front of the Tallinn Creative Hub will be closed to traffic. From 26 June, the intersection of Põhja pst. and Kursi Street will also be closed.
Agreement reached with landowners on Vanasadama tram line construction work
Tallinn City has successfully reached the end of talks with all landowners in the area for constructing a tram and pedestrian pathway connecting Vanasadama and the Rail Baltic to the Ülemiste Travel Terminal and ensuring its openness to the public.
Tram line no. 6 to continue operations in autumn
Temporary tram line no. 6, which was created due to construction works on the Vanasadama tram line, will continue operating on the Tondi-Kopli route at least until the end of September, when tram traffic on all other lines has been restored. Tram lines no. 2 and 4 will restart operation at the beginning of September, with no. 1 and 3 doing so at the start of October. The city is considering the possibility of having line no. 6 operate on a permanent basis.
Tallinn to build new tramways on Liivalaia Street and to Pelguranna
Tallinn is planning to construct new tramways on Liivalaia Street and along the Pollinator Highway (Putukaväil) leading to Pelguranna. This week, the City Government sent a proposal to the Ministry of Climate for European Union funding to expand the city's tram network. The plan involves adding three kilometers of new tracks.
Construction of the Old City Harbour tramway resumes, traffic regulators on site
Construction work on the Old City Harbour tramway resumes today in the city centre, resulting in traffic management changes around the Linnahall intersection and Ahtri Street. Traffic regulators will manage critical intersections. Several bus lines are rerouted starting today, while tram lines No. 1, 2, and 5 will operate as usual until the evening of May 3.
