State allocates nearly €20 Million for the construction of the Pelguranna tram line
The Ministry of Climate, with support from the European Union, is allocating nearly €20 million to Tallinn to build a new tram line to Pelguranna. Combined with the city's contribution, the total investment exceeds €28 million.
Tram line 2 now runs through the Old City Harbour
As of today, December 1, tram line 2 begins operating through Vanasadam (Old City Harbour). The tram currently runs on the route Kopli–Vanasadam–Suur-Paala but will extend to the airport once the Ülemiste Rail Baltic terminal is completed.
Old City Harbour tramway officially opened today
The Vanasadam (Old City Harbour) tramway was officially opened today, with regular tram services set to begin on Sunday, December 1.
Tram line no. 6 to continue operations in autumn
Temporary tram line no. 6, which was created due to construction works on the Vanasadama tram line, will continue operating on the Tondi-Kopli route at least until the end of September, when tram traffic on all other lines has been restored. Tram lines no. 2 and 4 will restart operation at the beginning of September, with no. 1 and 3 doing so at the start of October. The city is considering the possibility of having line no. 6 operate on a permanent basis.
Five tram lines operating in October
The temporary tram line No. 6, introduced during the construction of the Old City Harbour tram line, will continue to operate on the Tondi-Kopli route until at least the end of October. Starting on October 1, the rest of the tram traffic will be fully restored. The City is also exploring the option of permanently continuing with tram line No. 6
Tallinn to build new tramways, one of which will reach to Kristiine Shopping Center
Tallinn is planning to construct new tramways on Liivalaia Street and along the Pollinator Highway (Putukaväil) leading to Pelguranna. The plan involves adding three kilometers of new tracks.
Tram service to Kopli suspended from first weekend in May
From the evening of Friday, May 3, at 20.00 until the end of Sunday, May 5, tram service between Kopli and the city centre will be temporarily suspended. During this period, tram lines 1, 2, and 5 will be replaced by shuttle bus line 52 on the segment between Kopli and Mere puiestee. This suspension is due to construction work at the temporary Linnahall stop and the tram turnaround loop at the Skoone Bastion stadium.
Old City Harbour tramway construction affects tram services to Kopli until mid-August
The construction of the Old City Harbour tramway along Põhja puiestee near Linnahall is set to disrupt tram services to Kopli from May 3 until mid-August. During the first weekend of May, tram lines No. 1, 2, and 5 will be out of service. From May 6, a temporary tram line No. 1 will operate between Kopli and Linnahall stops.
