A transition plan for Tallinn's municipal kindergartens and schools to Estonian-language education was approved by the Tallinn City Government. The action plan for the period covering the 2023/24 and 2024/25 academic years focuses on five priority areas, including support for education institution leaders and teachers to attain the necessary proficiency in Estonian, providing training for teachers on teaching multilingual students, creating legal clarity at both the state and city levels, ensuring educational materials and language learning support for students, and offering support for the recruitment of new teachers.
The 13th Youth Song and Dance Celebration taking place next week brings temporary traffic changes to the City Centre and Song Festival Ground areas during the event and the days preceding it. Depending on the date and time, traffic restrictions will be in place in several locations. Traffic is influenced the most by the procession, the Dance Celebration performances and the concert at the Song Festival Grounds.
During the Christmas period, Tallinn’s public transport will operate according to the Sunday timetable. On the evening of 31 December, traffic restrictions will be in place in the Freedom Square area due to the New Year’s concert and light show, and several bus routes will be diverted. After midnight, in the early hours of 1 January, the operating hours of a number of routes will be extended to ensure that people celebrating the New Year can return home safely by public transport.
