From Thursday next week, 1 June, the separate collection of bio-waste will become mandatory on all properties in Tallinn, regardless of the intended purpose or number of apartments.

Tallinn Waste Centre and the technology company ibiot are testing sensors that monitor the filling of waste containers and give a signal when the container is due to be emptied in order to prevent containers from being overfilled and waste transport vehicles from running empty.

The 41st Tallinn Old Town Days are set to take place from Friday to Sunday, 2-4 June. From Tuesday 6 June, the section of Kursi Street in front of the Tallinn Creative Hub will be closed to traffic. From 26 June, the intersection of Põhja pst. and Kursi Street will also be closed.

The capital’s five public beaches are open for the season starting today. The lifeguards from G4S have started their annual summer watch.

A new series of outdoor training programmes lasting throughout the summer will begin on Monday, 12 June. The objective of these programmes is to offer young people aged 7-26 a way to spend time doing sporting activities during the summer and to encourage them to exercise regularly. Participation in the summer training is free for young people from Tallinn.

Grazing season has begun at the Paljassaare beach meadow – the Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department initiative to maintain beach meadows with the help of Highland cattle for the sixth year running.
