Tallinn and the state move forward with the process of merging the city’s hospitals
Today, representatives from the City of Tallinn, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance met to agree on the next steps for the consolidation of hospitals. The meeting set the timetable, tasks, and objectives for the working group discussions.
New design for Ühiskaart, the Tallinn and Harju County public transport card
Starting December 1, Tallinn and Harju County will launch a redesigned and more secure Ühiskaart (public transport card), with its price increasing from €2 to €3. Existing Ühiskaart cards will remain valid, and no replacement is required.
Historic House of the Blackheads upgraded with new systems and improved spaces
The first phase of renovation works has been completed at the historic House of the Blackheads, managed by the Tallinn Philharmonic Society. Uus Street in Tallinn's Old Town to get a new look
Utility work will be carried out on Uus Street to provide residents with better-quality heating. The city will also build curbless sidewalks to create a shared urban space that is friendly to all road users.
Tallinn plans to limit free parking for electric cars from other municipalities in the city center
Tallinn is proposing changes to electric car parking regulations in the city center. Under the new plan, only electric car owners or responsible users registered as Tallinn residents in the Population Register would be eligible for free parking. The new rule, which requires approval by the City Council, is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
Old Town streets to be transformed into a modern urban space
Tallinn is set to upgrade Apteegi, Kooli, and Gümnaasiumi streets in the Old Town. The renovation will include the reconstruction of district heating pipelines in collaboration with Utilitas, as well as upgrades to water supply and sewerage systems in cooperation with Tallinna Vesi.
Tallinn and Viimsi agree to extend bus line no. 1
The City of Tallinn and Viimsi Municipality have signed a joint agreement to extend bus line no. 1, which currently runs to Viimsi center, all the way to Vimka mägi.
City flags to be flown at half-mast on the anniversary of the March bombing
On March 9, 81 years will have passed since the Soviet Air Force's air raid on Tallinn. In October, the Tallinn City Council declared this anniversary a city-wide day of remembrance.
