Tallinn Zoo is testing a new mobile application, NaviLens, throughout August to improve accessibility for visually impaired visitors. The app uses innovative codes readable by mobile cameras to provide important directions and information about attractions. Initiated by the Tallinn Strategic Management Office’s Tourism Department, this project is part of a broader effort to update the city’s signage system.

The City of Tallinn has selected three innovative projects through its "Test in Tallinn" program competition, offering residents the opportunity to experience smart city solutions designed to enhance their quality of daily life.

From June 20-21, one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation conferences, The Next Web 2024, took place in Amsterdam. The event gathered companies, investors, and representatives from national and local governments. Tallinn was represented by Deputy Mayor Margot Roose, who met with innovation leaders from various cities and participated in a panel discussion.

The fifth annual Tallinnovation innovation competition awarded top honors this year to projects including cargo bikes, a solar panel visualization solution for the city's digital twin, and a data exchange platform for urban infrastructure development.

Tallinn offers both Estonian and international companies the opportunity to test their sustainable and smart city-compatible products and services in the city. In the latest round of the Test in Tallinn program, seven applications were evaluated, with three selected to move forward to the testing phase soon.

In the " European Cities and Regions of the Future 2024" ranking published by the Financial Times' fDi Magazine, Tallinn has been placed among the top ten in two categories for European medium-sized cities.

With the end of the winter break, the construction of the Old City Harbour tramway in the city centre continues, affecting the daily lives and traffic arrangements of many citizens. Tallinn invites businesses to utilize city support measures aimed at mitigating the impact of the construction works.

Last night, the 2023 Conference Achievement of the Year was announced at Fotografiska where Tallinn Deputy Mayor Joosep Vimm and Chairman of the Estonian Convention Bureau Ott Sarapuu acknowledged the past year's most outstanding conference organizers, highlighting 27 events that generated an estimated benefit of over 9.5 million euros to the city and Estonia's economy.

At the beginning of last year, Tallinn launched the Test in Tallinn programme, initiated by Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart, inviting companies to test new technologies in urban spaces and systems. The focus was on tests in urban mobility, renewable energy and energy saving. To date, a total of 37 test project applications have been received, of which 21 have been accepted.

At the end of last year, the results of the fourth round of the Test in Tallinn program, initiated by the city of Tallinn, revealed two new partner companies with which the city decided to proceed and hopes to reach the testing phase.
